Vic Duggan speedway champion, who will captain the Australian team in the second test match to be held at the West Ham Stadium. Now riding for Harringay, he started his racing career on Sydney mudflats with an old racing machine. Not having much success on cinder tracks, he was eventually persuaded to come to England to join Hackney Wick. But it was not until 1939 while riding for Wimbledon that he began to find his best form. His racing style features of revolutionary type of technique not used by British stars. While most men throttle back going into a bend, he uses the centre of the track and with throttle wide open, he beats out men at the point where they are not expecting. 17 July 1947
