More than 60 representatives of the Dominions, Idia, Burma and the Colonies, with some 30 delegates from Great Britain, are attending the month long 5th Empire Forestry Conference in the course of which they will visit state owned and private forests in Britain. They are seeing something of the afforestation scheme whereby the Forestry Commission plans, over a period of five years, to extend Britain's war-denuded two million acres to five million effective, well-managed acres of woodland. The Delegates have just spent three days viewing the 50,000 acres Thetford Cahse forest area, and the Duke of Buccleugh's 2,000 acre forest on Boughton Estate. Picture shows: Delegates photographed with the Duke and Dutchess of Buccleuch after lunching with them at Boughton Hall. 23 June 1947
