London's Boer War veterans held their first drum head service on Horse Guards Parade, Sunday. This annual service has previously been held at Westminster Abbey. In the parade commanded by 72-year-old general Sir Arthur Wauchope, where campaigners whose average age is now 74. The service was conducted by the Rev dealers BL Foster, MK, Rector of Hever, Kent, and following the service the parade marched to the South African War Memorial to lay a wreath in memory of those who gave the lives in the 1899-1902 four. Picture shows: Ex-Nursing sister Margaret Gradwell, whose age is a "military secret" was one of the veterans who attended the service this morning wearing an array of medals which she and her husband won during the war. 13 June 1947
