The Foreign Minister Mr Ernest Bevan, and Lord Wavell, were among those given an Honourary Degree of Doctor of Laws at Cambridge University today. Introducing Mr Bevin in the customary Latin, the public orators described him in the words of Cicero - "a true man of the people labouring for the people's good". Lord Wavell he described as "a faithful servant of his country in war and peace, and a follower of Muses". In all, eleven honorary degrees were conferred.
