7 men who were alleged to have attacked Mr Patrick Shaw, a Bristol builder, were charged at Bristol today with robbery with violence. The story was told of how, in the middle of the night, Mr Schall awoke and saw a number of marksed men near his bedroom door. He cried out and the men pounced on him, dragged him from bed and hit him on the head with a blackjack. He was forced face down on the floor, bound with his own braces, blindfolded and questioned about money. The men apparently thought that there was ?00 or ?00 hidden in the house, but the money was non-existent. When the man found the safe open Mr Shaw was further attacked. 9 June 1947
