An RAF mosquito piloted by Squadron leader H.B. Martin, DSO, DFC, only survivor of the aircraft which attacked and burst the great Mohne Dam in Germany, took off from London airport in an attempt to smash the London to Cape Town air record. Picture shows left to right: Squadron leader H.B. Martin, Squadron leader H. B. Martin, Lt. Hanson and Lt. E.G. Woods. Woods and Hanson will fly a second mosquito if the first takes more than 24 hours for the trip. 30 April 1947
