Mr Arthur Brown, of Helston town, Cornwall, has an inquisitive turn of mind. Crossing the footbridge over the River Cober on his way to make mere gas for the fires and cooker of Halston, he spied an object floating in the water. With the aid of his walking stick he pulled it ashore, and who should it be but a 21 month old Peter Addison, unconscious and on the point of drowning. Remembering his Red Cross drill, Mr Brown immediately began to apply artificial respiration and sent a passer-by for a doctor. 16 April 1947
