When the 2 famous racing yachts, endeavour and endeavour II were put up for auction at Gosport, Hampshire, today not a single bid was forthcoming. Launched in 1934 and 1936, the 2 yachts figured in spectacular the unsuccessful attempt to win the America's Cup. Described as "the most beautiful vessels ever built", they were built at approximate cost of ?5,000-?0,000. After the yachts complete with their equipment had been offered without a bid, the vessels were put up separately again without a buyer. Then there equipment, which almost filled the Masonic Hall, near the guards where the yachts are lying on a was sold in some 250 lots. Neither of the owners of the famous yachts, Mr H a Andre and Mr TOM Sopwith were present at the sale. Picture Shows: Portsmouth Fisherman studies the catalogue of today's sale in hope of finding something in his line. 10 April 1947
