New houses for the native population of Johannes burg are being built - but only at a rate of 30 a month, while the total needed is 42,000. Most natives in the city are living sovent or eight to a room but here one lucky family is seen outside its new brick-built bungalow on the Plimville Estate on the city outskirts. Today they are surrounded by squatters living in crudo huts and tonts and they do their best to safoguard their home by a notice: "Beware of the dog." 12 March 1947
