Jet engines beat the snow. Deep snow drift is holding up train like loads iron ore on an LNER branch line near Grantham, links, were cleared yesterday by the novel introduction of two turbojet aircraft engines, which mounted side-by-side on a low railway track, eight their way rapidly through this train high snow. The experiment was suggested by the Ministry of Supplys National Gas Turbine Establishment at Whetstone, near Leicester, and it proved so successful that further trials may be extended to other impassable tracks.
