German forgeries of British 'Stamps'. Twenty nine travesties and forgeries of British 'stamps' realised ?2 today, tuesday, at Messrs Harmer's London Stamp Auctioneers. These were printed some time before D Day (1944) and the enemy circulated them as propaganda through agents in Switzerland and other neutral countries. Photo shows, the current stamps of King George VI were also forged. In addition, many of them were overprinted 'Liquidation of Empire' with names of Imperial countries added, often incorrectly, such as 'Sta Lucia' and, as seen here, 'Bahama Is'. 21 January 1947
