Chinese opera comes to London. On 20th . January at the Westminster Theatre, London, a form of entertainment entirely new to Britain will be staged by the Chinese living in this country. Mr Bin Cheng, son of the Chinese Ambassador to Britain, will lead a company of his countrymen in presenting two centuries old operas performed in the strict Chinese style little or no scenery and with an orchestra composed principally of fiddle drums, symbols and gongs on the stage with the singers. Mme Y S Chen, Wife of the First Secretary at the Chinese Embassy and a graduate of the Academy of Drama at Chung King, or have the leading roles in both operas, which are entitled 'l Mademoiselle Phoenix' and 'Fisherman's Revenge'.
