Mrs Odette Sansom imprisoned and tortured by the Gestapo when serving with the French resistance movement was decorated with the George Cross by his Majesty the King at Buckingham Palace. Also at the Palace to receive the distinguished service order, was Mrs Sansom's commanding officer in the movement, Capt Peter Churchill. Together they were caught by the Gestapo in Marseilles in 1943.
