The ancient town of Romsey, Hampshire was on fete as thousands came from far and wide to see the Honorable Patricia Edwina Victoria Mountbatten, the elder daughter of Viscount Mountbatten of Burma, married to Capt Lord Brabourne. Their majesties the King and Queen with members of the Royal family were present, as were famous naval and military commanders who served with Viscount Mountbatten in the south-east of Asia, where the bride and bridegroom met.
