Nurse Jenkinson of Hessle. A recent portrait of the lady known as 'the Florence Nightingale of Hessle'. Nurse Jenkinson is retiring after 43 years of service largely devoted to the very poor of Hessle and the surrounding villages. Wartime transport hardships and bad weather has never prevented this devoted District Nurse from answering a call. Prominent local residents, including a number of doctors are to mark nurse Jenkinson's with a presentation. 7 November 1945
