Since the opening last August of the Police Wireless School attached to the Police College at Hendon, nearly a thousand policemen have passed through a three-day course in which they have been instructed in the complex system which lies behind the '999' call on the telephone. The men, all members of the Metropolitan Police Force, received training in radio telephony and procedure, a system under which a patrol car is dispatched to reach the scene of a crime within minutes of a telephone call to the police being received.
