6 week walk around Romford Stadium greyhound track was begun this morning, by 47-year-old Bert Couzens, of East ham, London. His object is to beat the record, set up by the captain Bartlett hundred 37 years ago, by walking 1000 miles in 1000 hours. The rules laid down that some part of the distance must be covered during every hour of the attempt, and greyhound racing fans at Romford would during the next few weeks have an added interest in watching Mr Couzens going round between the races. 20 September 1946
