Returning after 48 years with the GWR. A new portrait of Mr Henry J Peacock, OBE, the Assitant Superintendent of the Line (Cardiff) who is to retire at the end of the year after nearly 48 years service with the Great Westen Railway which he joined in 1898. After serving in Bristol (his home town) Worcester and Cardiff Divisions, and at the head quarters at Paddington, he went to Cardiff as Superintendent in 1939 where during the war he was responsible for the movemnet of vast numbers of men and material vital to the war effort passing through the Bristol Channel ports. 9 December 1945
