Male and female nurses now trained together at the preliminary training school, Queensgate, Plymouth. A recent Ministry of health recommendation that schools be established for the training of male nurses has resulted in the opening of this new training centre, where men and female trainees will share lessons in anatomy, physiology, hygiene, first aid, the history of nursing, practical nursing and invalid cooking. On completion of their 6 weeks course, the male nurses will go on to train in the various municipal hospitals in the same way as the female student nurses. 27 May 1946
