Belfast, Northern Ireland: police charged down the Shankhill Road in Belfast yesterday with serious rioting broke out the second consecutive night. Protestant writers built a barrier which they then set alight as they attempted to "invade" a Catholic area. Some 800 Protestants took part in the violence, 30 police officers were injured during riots and arrests to date total 55. The fresh violence began only hours after Saturday's writing, in which 80 people including 17 policemen, were injured. 4 August 1969
