Shouting "go home Ridgway" and scattering leaflets issued by the London district Communist Party, demonstrated rush towards the barriers at London airport this morning as general Ridgway, supreme Cmdr, Allied powers in Europe, landed his first visit to Britain to 6 years. Accompanied by his wife the general was met by Marshal of the Royal Air Force Sir John Slessor, chief of the air staff and, unperturbed by the demonstrators, inspected the Royal air force guard of honour while police grappled with the men throwing the leaflets. 9 July 1952
