Temporary houses to be demolished after 36 years. When the apartments at Wickham, near Plumstead, S.E 18, were built to house the workers of Woolwich Arsenal in 1916 to the first great Wall they are purely of a temporary nature. After the war the workers decided to stay put, and either carried on at the Arsenal were obtained at the jobs nearby. They also housed to the homeless retired from the wall; now after 36 years they are to be demolished and the inhabitants will be housed in newly built properties on a nearby estate. 24 March 1952
