49 cars set out from Nairobi on the 500 miles second leg of the East African Safari Rally, at the end of the first leg the two Mercedes held first and second place in the general classification anti-British cars when level third; Mrs Aaron Hall and Mrs Lucille Cardwell in a works entered Ford Zephyr, and Dr Lee Tolbert in a humber, super snipe.
