The town Clerk of Nottingham, Mr Thomas Owen arrived at the home office in Whitehall. He is here to discuss the suspension of chief constable of Nottingham, captain Athelstan Popkess. On his return to Nottingham disturbing will report to the Labour and Conservative leaders of Nottingham city county council who suspended the captain last Wednesday. One of the reasons given suspension of the captain was because he had refused to give information about the Scotland Yard enquiry into visit in East Germany. 15 July 1959
