Stirring protest. London ; A monster wooden spoon is carried from the headquarters of the League of Empire Loyalists for the transportation to Number 10 Downing Street , residence of Prime Minister , Sir Anthony Eden . The odd gift is to emphasise the protest against the visit of Soviet leaders Nikolai Bulganin and Nikita Khruschev being made by the League . The League recommends that the spoon be used at the dinner being given to the Russian visitors by Premier Eden on 19th April . A cross was also handed in by the League to Number 10 . It bore a card with the words , " in honourable and pitiful memory of the milliosn of victims of the Soviet regime " . 18 April 1956
