New Norwedian Liner Arrives In New York. Norway's newest and largest passenger liner, the 18,500-ton "M.S. Bergensfjord" arrives in New York harbour after her maiden voyage to the United States. Waving to the ultra-modern vessel is Sally Lou Sparrell, of Larchmont, New York. According to the shipping line, the liner set a new speed record for the 3,180-mile crossing from Kristiansand, Norway to the Nantucket light ship; six days, 10 hours and 24 minutes.
