First Section Of New London To Yorkshire Motorway Ready For Traffic. A section of the new London to Yorkshire motorway from the air, showing the Broughton roundabout at the junction with the Dunstable and Newport Pagnell roads. It is a two-level junction with slip roads leading to the roundabout formed on existing road. The new motorway passes under and at an angle to the existing road which is raised on approaches to the roundabout. On Monday, November 2 the first section of the motorway linking London and Birmingham from the north end of the new St. Albans bypass near Luton, to connections with the Birmingham and Holyhead roads at Dunchurch and Crick near Rugby will be formally opened to traffic.
