V-Bomber's View Of Britain. How does Britain look from the flight deck of the RAF's newest V-bomber? These pictures were taken at an altitude of 50,000 feet - more than nine miles high - from a huge delta Avro Vulcan. Paul Cullerne, AIBP, took the photographs during routine test flights of Vulcans (now entering squadron service with the RAF) as they ranged the length and breadth of the British Isles. He used a camera he designed specially for aerial photography, shooting through cloud with infra-red negative material. Photo shows: The Isle of Man (below) surrounded by an inky Irish sea. Beyond is the Scottish mainland, with the Mull of Galloway towards the left. Isle of Man. 04 July 1957.
