The cigarette has been incriminated as one of the causes of lung cancer . Studies in a number of countries indicate that the death rate from this disease is about 10 times as high among cigarette smokers as among life long non smokers , and may be as much as 30 times as high among men smoking more than 30 cigarettes a day as among non smokers .
