The German liner "Windhuk", 16,662 tons, which escaped from Lobito, Portuguese West Africa, where she had stayed since the outbreak of the war, is now stated by German their to have started the wartime career for which she was built for in 1936. She is said to have carried for raider armament since a recent refit and to have a speed far in excess that exhibited in peace time.
