Starting her life with a terrible mishap HM Submarine "Thunderbolt", ex "Thetis", has had a glorious record of victory and success. The Thetis sank during trials in 1939 and 99 lives were lost. She was salvaged by skilful feat of engineering and went on active service as the Thunderbolt. Going from one success to another she has destroyed two U-boats and five enemy supply ships, bombarded enemy positions and rescued 43 torpedoed British merchant seaman with their dog in the Mediterranean.
