Once the luxurious home of Woolworth heiress Barbara Hutton , this three-storey 35- room house is now a transit hotel for United States officers and their families . It is Winfield House , Regent's Park , in which the heiress lived with her husband , Count Reventlow from 1937 - 1939 . After her divorce from the count , Miss Hutton never lived their again . In 1946 she offered it to the United States government as a home for their ambassador . The offer was accepted , but too big for that purpose , it has been coverted in to the hotel . 30 November 1951
