Detective Constables Albert Stillings (right) and Jim Williams , the Blackpool CID men who detained a man who may be able to help in police inquiries into the A6 murder . The detectives were making a routine check of Blackpool restaurants just before midnight when they noticed the man drinking coffee in the Stevonia Cafe in Central Drive . He accompanied them to police headquarters . Detective Superintendent Bob Acott , who was leading the murder inquiries , went to Blackpool immediately after the telephone call was made to Scotland Yard . He announced that the man would be taken to Bedford to join an identification parade . 21 October 1961
