Laura Thurlow of Wakefield , Yorkshire ( with mirror ) , has had fun with her lipstick on the side of the armchair at the Connaught Rooms , London , W . C . But there ' s no harm done - Mrs Gerald Morris of Manchester simply wipes off the ' I Love You ' message with a damp cloth . The chair is covered with a new furnishing fabric called Lyflon , made on the Continent from synthetic fibres and shown publicly in this country for the first time . Because the material is non absorbent , ink , wine , grease and other stains can be removed easily with a damp cloth . Lyflon , which looks and feels not unlike velvet , is said to wear five times as long as ordinary wool moquette while costing no more than a normal furnishing fabric of good quality . 13 August 1959
