Volunteers with their banners proclaiming resistance to racial discrimination laws and anti-trade union action , assemble in Anderson Street , Johannesburg , for a curfew breaking march on the City Hall . The march was part of the passive resistance campaign conducted by non-Europeans against racial segregation in the Union . More than 2000 people have already been arrested , according to one campaign leader 29 September 1952
