Near to Buckingham Palace is the Victoria Palace Theatre , which was opened in 1911 by the late Sir Alfred Butt , MP after big rebuilding in the area . Prior to this the theatre was known as the Royal Standard Music Hall and dates back to 1830 . In the Royal Standard days it was on eof the first music halls to get a London County Council Music and Dancing Licence . For many years the famous Crazy Gang was housed at the Victoria Palace which faces Victoria Railway Station . Rising at the right is the New Stag Skyscraper building ( now Portland House ) built on the site of the old Stag Bewery .
