At the Royal School of Needlework in London , Queen Elizabeth II 's 18 feet long Coronation Robe lies on an embroidery table while skilled needleworkers embroider it with gold thread . The Royal Cypher "E.R." has been completed on one side and the design of olives and wheatsheafs to denote peace and prosperity is in the process of being woven into the fabric in gold . In this picture Miss M Bartlett works on the olives and wheatsheafs design , which is the bckground motif to the Royal Cypher and Crown . 11th February 1953
