Resembling the letters of a strange new language, these impressions illustrate some of the kinds of etchings made in glass, plastics, metals and ceramics in the development of "fluid transistors" at General Electric's Advanced Technology Laboratories in Schenectady, New York. The new type transistors can be much larger than this and much smaller. The configurations, pointed out by Hans Stern, can operate without electrical power and will last indefinitely. 27 August 1963
