Wilhelm Boger , 56 (left) , once a sergeant in the Auschwitz concentration camp Gestapo staff , is pictured when he and 21 other guards and officials went on trial charged with the responsibility for the extermination of more than 2 1/2 million people at the camp , Frankfurt , Germany . Boger is charged with such crimes as the single handed shooting of 100 Red Army officers , drowning a priest by holding his head in a bucket of water and kicking a Polish General to death . Several torture devices used at the camp were said to have been invented by Boger . 20 December 1963
