To add to London ' s ever - improving transport system the new Central Line extension , from Leytonstone to Woodford and Newbury Park , is due to be opened by the Minsister of Transport . The tunnels on this extension were finished early in the war , but instead of being used for tube trains it was decided to house a war production plant in them .
