Heidelberg , Germany : Pedestrians crossing the 'old bridge' across the river Neckar in the German University city of Heidelberg . The bridge , built in 1786-1788 is currently being dismantled to allow for the widening of a river embankment highway . Durriing the dismantling , each stone section is being numbered to allow for the reassembly of the 180-year-old bridge when the roadworks are completed . 30 June 1969
