GREAT BATTLES IN THE GUADALAJARA. FRANCO'S OFFENSIVE ENDS IN ROUT. These pictures were made on the Guadalajara front near Madrid during the great rebel offensive in which a crushing defeat was inflicted on General Franco's forces by the loyalists . With General Franco's mechanised army floundering in mud , thousands of Italians who were fighting on the rebel's side retired in disorder before strong Government counter-attacks.
