Over 1,200 arrests were made by the Paris Police in the demonstrations marking the anniversary of the grave Stavisky riots when a score of people lost their lives - most of those arrested were Communists who were found to be armed with revolvers and sticks and knuckle-dusters - some were carrying petrol soaked rags - there were many skirmishes throughout the city - 40 Communists ( mostly armed with revolvers or daggers ) were arrested outside the Presidential Palace - photo shows a girl injured in a battle with police near Notre Dame being carried to safety by men comrades February 7th 1935
