A "FIND" OF LONG-LOST SUNG-WARE POTTERY Chien yao tea-bowls have delighted the hearts of connoisseurs for centuries. The comparative abundance of these bowls is Foochow led Mr J M Plumer, at one time resident there, to investigate their source. Enquiries indicated the town of Shui-chi, in Northern Fukien, and an adventurous journey undertaken in 1935 by rail, motorbus, bamboo raft and on foot at length brought him to the desired destination. A search in the surrounding district soon yielded success, for Mr Plumer discovered three huge kiln-sites (one of which we show), each containing a mass of tea-bowls of teh Sung dynasty (AD960-1280)
