As the flag-draped coffin of sailor Edward D Olsen is lifted into the hearse Anton Lavey (fourth from left) stands solemnly while another man holds a satanic wreath. Lavey, a self-styled sorcerer of a satanic church, read the final rites in the funeral services which committed Olsen's soul to the devil. The dead sailor joined Lavey's church about six months before he was killed in a car accident. - 18th December 1967
