New and deadly incendiary bombs for use by aeroplanes were tested by firemen in the Porte de Champerret district of France - the bombs - although small enough to be carried by aerooplanes in large quantities - generate a terrific heat on striking their objective and the chemicals with which they are filled create a blaze against which firemen's water hoses are powerless and only a few varieties of chemical extinguishers have any effect at all - photo shows a French fireman handling two of the deadly firebombs before the test February 10th 1935
