Lloyd's Medals for Saving Life at Sea were presented to the lifeboat area of the liner Ascania at Lloyds in London - the Ascania went to the rescue of the British steamer Usworth which sank in mid-Atlantic - the Belgian steamer Jean Jedet also attempted to take off the crew of the stricken steamer but her lifeboat was capsized - it was then that the Ascania launched the lifeboat which was successful - photo shows Lieutenant E R J Pollitt RNR of the rescue crew giving an address of thanks after the presentation - the other members of the crew are on leave February 7th 1935
