After years of research Dr Herbert H Jasper and Dr Leonard Carmichael ( two American scientists of the Brown University Department of Psychology ) have invented an apparatus to photograph amplified action currents given off by the human brain - the new invention allows physicians to investigate the action of the brain in much the same way as the electrocardiograph allows them to to investigate the heart action - photo shows Dr Herbert H Jasper (left) and Dr Leonard Carmichael photographed with part of their apparatus - the disc (centre) shows an action current magnified 500,000 times taken when the subject is mentally tranquil - when there are mental disturbances the wavy line becomes irregular February 5th 1935
