Canterbury with its Mother Church of the Empire celebrated the 700th anniverary of its civic freedom - in 1233 Henry III granted a charter to the city the green seal of which although damaged is still recognisable - the Mayor of Canterbury ( Councillor Frank Wood ) and the Corporation went in civic state with 20 other Kentish Mayors to the Cathedral for a service of thanksgiving - the Archbishop of Canterbury gave an address - photo shows the procession of Mayors arriving at Canterbury Cathedral December 1st 1934
