Sir Samuel Hoare opened a five storey block of workers' flats at Peckham which have the largest babies' balconies yet provided in London- the building is the R E Sassoon House ( the gift of Mrs Meyer Sassoon in memory of her son ) - each flat has a balcony leading from the living room and large enough for two small beds for sleeping out in the summer or for chairs and table for the family - the door from the living room is glazed to enable the mother to supervise the children as she goes about her work - photo shows Sir Samuel Hoare with the Bishop of Southwark on one of the sun balconies after opening the flats November 16th 1934
